The Sages instituted the study of Shnayim Mikra v’Echad Targum – reviewing the weekly Torah portion twice in the original Hebrew and once in the Aramaic translation/commentary of Onkelos – as an obligation on every Jew. Sadly, this duty is overlooked or performed in a less-than-optimum fashion because of our generation’s lack of familiarity with Aramaic. The Complete Targum Onkelos is the first translation of Onkelos designed specifically to assist readers in fulfilling the mitzvah of reviewing the parsha Shnayim Mikra v’Echad Targum. The Complete Targum Onkelos includes the original text of the Chumash, the Aramaic adaptation of the Targum, and an accessible new English translation highlighting the emendations of Onkelos in bold-faced type. Volume 2 of The Complete Targum Onkelos covers the books of Vayikra, Bamidbar, and Devarim.
